US Government Publishes Updated Policy for F1 Students

On July 17, 2026, the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) published an updated policy, removing “Duration of Status” when F-1 students arrive in The United States, and instead, will issue all F-1 students a fixed time period of study.

The policy needs to be finalized by Congress, and is set to go into effect on September 15, 2026.
